Rethinking Eastern Europe
A mixed-media collective founded in 2024 by the Polish visual artist Zula Rabikowska, and developed in collaboration with Vera Hadzhiyska, Ksenia Kazintseva, Paulina Korobkiewicz, and Diana Serban among others. It currently brings together artists from Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and the diaspora to challenge simplified narratives of the “Eastern” Europe.
The group’s work explores the experiences of migration and post-socialist identity, memory, belonging, intergenerational history, and shifting geopolitical landscapes.
Rethinking Eastern Europe organises collaborative workshops with universities and cultural organisations, art exhibitions and installations combining photography, textiles, and archival material.
