About the film:

made as a uni film assignment ‘archive film’ • UK • 9:52 • English & Spanish

Each year when I go to London Trans Pride, I feel suspended in a timeless bubble - safe and welcome but also angry having to protest same things all over again. In my film I use archive footage from years 2021-23 and voices of my trans+ friends to explore what role the LTP protest has to our community and what the future holds.

Featured in:

  • Otherness Archive, (2023) online LGBTQIA+ film archive;

  • Visual Anthropology Films (2023) by KONTEKST Collective, film showcase, Avalon Cafe, London, UK;

  • ‘Invisible Visible: a Celebration of LGBTQ+ Bodies and Identities’ (2024), group exhibition, hARTslane Gallery, London, UK;

  • Trans Video Buffet (2024), film showcase, Genesis Cinema, London, UK;

  • ‘Voices of Dissent’ (2024), group exhibition, FUSEBOX, Kingston-upon-Thames, UK.

  • ‘Collective Trust: A Visual Cultures symposium’ (2025), symposium, Goldsmiths University, London, UK.

Note from the filmmaker:

21/07/2025: I began working on this film as a way to manage my anxiety around large crowds, since I tend to get overstimulated easily. Focusing on filming helped redirect my attention, allowing me to enjoy the Trans+ Pride events. The camera acted as a buffer between me and the world, which helped me stay calm. I’d attend the march and come away with footage — which was a fortunate coincidence, as in 2023 I had a university assignment to make a short film from “archive footage”, and I had quite of lot of that.

The film has received an enthusiastic response from audiences so far, and I’d love to keep developing it. At this stage, though, it’s clear to me that I don’t want to do it alone.

I’m now looking for collaborators to help turn this into a polyvocal community project. I’m especially interested in connecting with other filmmakers, visual researchers, performers, writers, storytellers, musicians, and creatives who want to explore new and experimental ways of representing this massive subject that is trans+ pride (but also trans+ rage and trans+ joy) together. My dream is to expand the project into a collaborative docu-performance film, blending current trans+ rights advocacy with the imaginations of what can happen when our postulates are met.

I am also looking for contributions of footage from London Trans+ Pride marches and other similar protests that could be a part of the project.

Please message me if you’d like to collaborate on this with me.
