Bio:
I’m an anthropologist, filmmaker, curator and cultural worker born and raised in eastern Poland, and currently based in London, UK. My creative practice, which was influenced by the discipline of visual anthropology, is to a large degree autoethnographic - I often position my personal experience, encounters and relationships as starting points for conversations about larger societal issues. I am interested in using the camera as a tool for building bridges between people - working collaboratively to understand each other’s points of view. I have independently produced short films that have been screened internationally, apart from that as events organiser I curate public programmes that promote active engagement with the media and platform emerging creatives.

Context:
After graduating from BA Anthropology & Visual Practice at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2024, Arti decided to set up a grassroots platform for emerging artists by organising eve ts and creating an online archive, and with time the project grew into KONTEKST as more people joined.
KONTEKST:
2023: Visual Anthropology Films (organiser), screened London Trans+ Pride Archive Film, KONTEKST website and social media development.
2024: KONTEKST Collective (co-founder, admin, website development)
2025: facilitated KONTEKST Film Fest: ARCHIVE (programming, curation, admin, design, promo, comms), facilitated KONTEKST Open Feedback Sessions, organised the Desktop Documentary and Digital Autoethnography event which featured their film The Status of Eastness.
Arti is currently a member of the KONTEKST Collective’s coordination team.

The film is currently on display at the Queer Futures exhibition at Centrala Space, Birmingham until 12 December 2026.
The Status of Eastness (2024)

Experimental collaborative video essay exploring the perceptions of Eastern Europe by Westerners and by Polish people. The clip is a part of an ongoing film-research project exploring the Polish identity in the “modernising” world.
