Being-with the Softness is a 3D video built from the reproduction of two slugs. The image remains blurred and unstable. Bodies are barely distinguishable, and organic surfaces merge into a single viscous matter. Nothing appears in full clarity.

The work does not aim to document or explain, but to produce a situated and partial perception shaped by movement, tremors, and shifting focus, a gaze that remains close to what it cannot fully grasp.

Reproduction becomes a slow process of contact and transformation, where bodies form zones of passage. An intense proximity emerges in this shared softness, where relations remain unstable and continually reconfigured.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Vianney Petre (he/him) (b. 1990) is a French artist based in Paris. Working with 3D animation and sound, he explores encounters with radical alterities, including microscopic worlds, biological processes, fluids, and organic matter. A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Marseille (2015), with additional training in motion design and scientific illustration, his practice draws from both artistic and scientific approaches. Through immersive environments and soundscapes, he creates images in which bodies, materials, and environments remain interconnected and in continuous transformation. Rather than offering fixed representations, his work approaches the living as a dense and irreducible presence that resists complete visibility and easy classification.
