Survival Instincts
Survival Instincts is a paper installation dissolving boundaries between human, organism, and the technological by visualising a hybrid creature. This acts as a metaphor for anxieties during a time of rapid technological change and shifting methods of identification and survival mechanisms.
PLASTICENE
PLASTICENE is a four-part video installation that documents moments where the artist’s attention was captured by a visual harmony of consumer waste in a natural environment. The installation explores how pollution is a permanent, camouflaged fixture to the environment, rather than a disruption to it.
Wildlife Leaflets (Tracts Pour la Vie Sauvage)
Are animals cisgender and straight? That's what animal documentaries would make us believe. Wildlife Leaflets is a series of three short videos in which animals ‘hack’ the documentaries they are the subject of, to assert their queerness with fervour and humour.
Being-with the Softness
Being-with the Softness is a 3D video built from the reproduction of two slugs. The image remains blurred and unstable. Bodies are barely distinguishable, and organic surfaces merge into a single viscous matter. Nothing appears in full clarity.
Čuoikkariššu (Mosquito Shower)
Čuoikkariššu / Mosquito Shower explores the tension between discomfort and coexistence through the itchy sound of mosquitoes, tiny beings with an outsized ecological role in increasingly fragile Arctic ecosystems.
Southwark Park Stroll
Southwark Park Stroll is a site-specific installation that works with the surrounding park as a shared environment, examining the unseen ecosystems that coexist with us in everyday spaces. In addition to this, the installation works in dialogue with the Microbe Sampling Lab workshops, growing directly with the samples collected by participants.
Walking Choir, Retraced
The short film ‘Walking Choir’ traces the walk along the Kentish coastline from Broadstairs to Margate, where the community choir were given scores composed in response to the coastline and inspired by Irish Gaelic folk songs of pilgrimage.
Guttera Khaali (Under the Gutter)
Guttera Khali (Under the Gutter) is an ongoing stop-motion film through pinhole photographs that investigates the sewers of Mumbai, often reminiscent of London’s underground networks. The fecal matters that traverse the hidden infrastructures, the work examines climate change, and the overlooked ecological consequences embedded within urban systems.
Unwintering
Unwintering is an attempt to refuse defeat and reweave an embodied relation with the land. An ongoing project, the artist, Mita, began documenting seasonal transitions in woods along the River Lea where they live as a boater, witnessing and being with trees, bramble, and soil as they transform with time.
