About the project:

personal research project • public archive • 4:00 • English & Arabic

This film is a video essay that delves deep into the subtle yet impactful role of media semantics in shaping perceptions of Israel’s occupation, annexation and ethnic cleansing of Palestine, by focusing on the sanitisation and whitewashing of language. It sheds light on how media outlets, often claiming objectivity, take sides under the guise of neutrality. The project serves as an introduction to the Palestinian genocide, strategically crafted to resonate with Western audiences who may be unfamiliar with the harsh realities faced by those directly impacted. This film is a powerful tool to expose the disparity between perceived and actual knowledge, bridging the gap between Western and non-Western gazes.
